IPL (intense pulse light) uses a small, handheld piece to target unwanted areas of pigmentation, light that is transmitted through this handpiece breaks down pigmentation which then surfaces as scabs OR filtered away through the lymphatic system.
For best results, a course of 6-10 treatments is recommended.
What can IPL treat?
Pigmentation/sun damage/sun spots/freckles
Most commonly, skin pigmentation is caused by sun exposure and sun beds (specifically UVA rays) -these penetrate into the skin and causes ageing. UVA rays stimulate pigment cells to produce the pigment called Melanin; this is the pigment responsible for your tan as well as the dark/brown patches of pigmentation.
Sun spots can take 10—20 years to develop – meaning pigmentation appearing now could have been caused in your childhood.
Acne breakouts
IPL helps to kill bacteria on the skin that can cause breakouts as well as reducing inflammation and redness. IPL causes minor Injury to the sebaceous glands, stopping the over production of oil.
Homecare products can be recommended so that you can get the BEST from your treatment as well as continue to control breakouts between visits to the clinic.
Thread veins and rosacea
The IPL heats up the blood vessels which then change colour and are absorbed into the body. Capillaries constrict and coagulate the blood vessel. The body breaks this down and absorbs through the lymphatic system.
