For those of you who don’t know I have suffered with Alopecia for 10 years. If you have also suffered with this, you will have experienced grasping onto every small piece of information that could help. I have read about vitamins, oils, and all the lotions and potions to help hair growth.

That stage was the worst part for me. I was in a state of pure panic and reeling in the unknown. I had to kept praying to God that it would grow back. “Why me” was a used phrase while hoping for something to make a small difference.

I am so grateful that I have an amazing support system in my parents and friends so that I didn’t feel completely alone. I didn’t feel like my ‘normal’ self and only wanted to lock myself away and hide. I isolated myself for 3 months which were the hardest days of my life. I hate the saying ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ but its proven in my case to be true.

Once I had accepted that my hair wasn’t going to grow back I stopped crying. My obsession with researching hair growth progressed to looking at wigs and semi-permanent make up. Anything to make me look more like me again. The more I researched eyebrow tattooing and microblading, the more interested I was in training. Once I had done my training for eyebrows with Finishing Touches Group I found out there was more tattooing available. I hadn’t heard of areola, scalp or eyelash tattooing or skin camouflage before. All I knew was that it was my passion to now help others. This is where the idea of Medicare Cosmetics came from.

There was and still is so much more to learn about the skin, scars and burns, I found myself not thinking of my hair so much. I was so focused on now helping other people and being there for others I wasn’t thinking as much of myself anymore. One of the many things that I am so proud of at Medicare Cosmetics is that we offer free consultations. People can come in for a chat about a treatment, whether its cosmetic or medical and there is no obligation to have a treatment. During my worst times I didn’t have anybody to reach out to who understood or had been through what I was going through. This is something so important for me to be able to do now.

By no means has my Medicare journey been easy, it wouldn’t have been possible without my amazing clients. I can call a lot of them my friends too. We have all laughed, cried and shared personal stories but the biggest thing is the support and advice.

At Medicare Cosmetics I am so fortunate to be able to offer my services through the tattooing. I am grateful that I have met so many lovely people who all have a story to tell and have either come out the other side or are on a positive path now. I love making such a difference to people’s lives. This could be a small confidence boost or helping them feel like themselves again.
Being able to help people with Alopecia is something we love being able to do in our free monthly clinic where we offer eyebrow tattooing for Alopeica clients free of charge.
